Throughout my career I have learned a little bit about sales and marketing.
A skilled sales person is able to quickly move a customer through evaluation to
negotiation to payment.
Marketing has two functions:
- at the front end to determine what customers want to buy (i.e. for what product
there is a market) and inform engineering of what to design and manufacturing what to
build.
- at the back end to generate interest, perceived value, and demand for the product
among prospective customers.
I find that sales and marketing people tend to use PowerPoint a lot. After seeing many
technical marketing presentations I have noticed certain recurring themes. I have captured
some of those in this presentation of generic
marketing diagrams.
