Hello. I am the one and only Jonah Probell.

Personally

I seek to broaden my horizons. I often learn everything that I can about something new, though I read few books. I love technical writing and teaching because that is the best way to learn a subject thoroughly. I never lie.

I love that I have diverse friends and acquaintances. I view strangers as friends that I have yet to meet. I love to help others but avoid asking for help. I do not know whether God exists and I am satisfied with my ignorance on the matter. I will take either side for the sake of a good political philosophy debate.

I am fast using a Windows computer because I know a lot of shortcut keys. I used to occasionally play soccer on weekends and drums in a small band ♪. I also used to enjoy canoeing, biking, building stone walls, and working on my friends' dairy farm. Now I am a workaholic. I am selective about what organizations I join. There are certain web sites that I like.

I love to travel, have been to almost every state in the USA, have been to most industrialized nations of the world, and have a friends in each place. I sleep well on trains, planes, cars, boats, or anywhere else. I dislike long sleeves, but I love a comfortable pair of jeans. I own only what I need. Though I shun materialism, I also profit from it. Though I design computer processors for digital televisions and DVD players, I own no television set. I am also a licensed ham radio operator.

I enjoy learning new languages but I know only one fluently. I speak and write with the best English grammar of anyone that I know. My vocabulary excludes words that would not be heard on the evening news. Secretly, though, my mind is as dirty as my language is clean. I enjoy limericks and word play but I hate puzzling over brain teasers.

My favorite book is Sometimes A Great Notion by Ken Kesey for its depiction of the rural versus academic conflict that afflicts my self-image. I also enjoyed Catcher In The Rye. I appreciate most music, especially Jazz (standards, funk, and ska), Blues, Classic Country, and Rock (classic, punk, and modern). There are many different musicians and bands that I like.

I watch very little television, but I enjoy a few television shows when they are on. I also enjoy good movies, especially those with stories that actually develop female characters. I like studying maps and I have a good sense of direction. I like looking at boats and trucks and heavy equipment. I drive a stick shift and I am skilled at backing up a trailer.

I am male ♂ and I was born in 1976, Gemini in the year of the dragon 龙. Nowhere feels like home to me, but work and family take me frequently to the areas around Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Boston, West Palm Beach, Chicago, London, Hsinchu, Tokyo, Osaka, Beijing, and Shanghai.
